Last one in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor is a rotten egg! Plan to make Harbor swimable! Video of life in harbor.

At least that is what you would smell like when getting out of the water today, however; if all goes according to plan, you’ll be able eat at the bottom of the harbor floor…sort of.
Before the idea of the Harborplace was ever conceived, Baltimore’s Inner Harbor was a working harbor. In the 60′s the harbor gave way to abandoned warehouses and blight. It wasn’t until the 1970s a plan was developed to revitalize the harbor. In the 1980, the Harborplace was born!
Today, the Inner Harbor is trying rebirth of sorts where the city will be trying to launch an effort to improve the water quality where fishing a swiming would be not only possible, but enjoyable. I can hear the collective groans from here! (see the Twitter reactions here)
In a recent article in the Baltimore Business Journal, Jack Lambert writes, “The ‘Healthy Harbor’ initiative calls for the city and Baltimore County to reduce sewage, trash and stormwater from entering streams and watersheds. The Waterfront Partnership would be working with city and county officials, and community organization to help accomplish the goals.”
The ultimate goal is to make the Inner Habor a place where all can be proud of and for those who are daring, willing to take the plunge and not come out looking like the Creature From the Black Lagoon.
